…Police: My hands are tied

Popular presenter of Igbo Ekpebie and Human Rights Hour at Ozisa FM 96.1 Owerri, Theodore Chinonso Uba, aka Nonso Nkwa, will be detained for at least one more week at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

National Newsblast Newspaper authoritatively gathered from Uba’s lawyer, Barr. Charles Kasarachi that after the interview yesterday with the petitioner, Imo State Commissioner, Declan Emelumba, Kasarachi requested that Uba be granted bail but was told that Uba will not be released until the police finish writing their report on the matter of alleged criminal defamation of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.

When Kasarachi pressed further, he was told that investigations are yet to be completed and will take at least one more week for completion.

According to Barr. Kasarachi, the head of Inspector General of Police, IGP Monitoring Team, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Musa, told him he does not like detaining people longer than necessary but that his hands are tied.

It would be recalled that Uba was abducted near Maria Assumpta Catholic Cathedral, Owerri around 11am on Thursday, July 27,on his way home after anchoring his program, Igbo Ekpebie and whisked to Imo State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, following a petition written by Imo State Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba alleging that Uba accused Governor Uzodimma of working with Niger Delta militant kingpin Alhaji Asari Dokubo and Ebubeagu security personnel to kill innocent Imo citizens.
