The Action People’s Party (APP) has recorded a major political boost ahead of the 2027 general elections, as three formidable lawmakers officially made the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) final list of candidates for the National Assembly.
The party, which has described itself as the “big elephant party,” announced the inclusion of two current House of Representatives members and a former ranking member who have all secured their candidacies under the APP platform.
The candidates who made the final INEC list are:
In a statement issued to welcome the new entrants, APP National Leader and candidate for Ideato North and South Federal Constituency, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, expressed excitement over the development, describing the lawmakers as “great democratic figures.”
“I want to welcome you all to the big elephant party and wish you great success in the battle ahead,” Ugochinyere said. “Our party is excited to have great democratic fighters like you in our midst.”
He further emphasized that the APP has positioned itself as a political home for independent-minded, new-generation politicians.
“APP is the political home of independent-minded new-generation politicians seeking to change the old order to a new way dominated by the people’s interest,” he added.
The inclusion of these three ranking lawmakers in the final INEC list signals a significant consolidation of political forces within the APP as the nation prepares for the 2027 electoral cycle.
