Host Communities to the Federal University of Technology ,FUTO, Owerri ,Tuesday May 18,sent a warning to the institution to steer clear of their Federal Government excised land or face the wrath of the communities.
They issued this order during their massive peaceful protest against FUTO on the excised expanse of land which the University had before now laid claim to, though there was no compensation on the land by the institution.
Speaking to newsmen during the protest at the excised Land which has been mapped out for a well built Housing Estate named Aroche New Town ,a Youth leader and an APC faithful, Comrade Clarkson Ekeopara revealed that the 1000 hectares of Land in question has been excised back to the community by the Federal Government which owns the institution. “So l see no reason ,the school should not obey her owner and hands off the land”,he noted.
He said the school has resorted to dropping the lmo State Governor’s name as if they are in partnership with the state government to share the largesse to their cronies.”they are trying to deceive the Community with this move and at the same time creating confusion and disunity amongst our people’
Comrade Ekeopara pointed out that the institution prefers using men of alleged questionable characters in the community to speak on behalf of the community than the Federal Government recognised Attorney ,Chief Sam Anokam who started the agitation for FUTO Land excision for the past 16years to it’s fruitful conclusion.
“We say no to this ugly move,it is chief Anokam that we know as our Attorney, any thing short of that means that FUTO is brewing trouble for itself’
He urged the State Governor , Sen. Hope Uzodinma as the Chief Security Officer ,to impress it on FUTO to do the right thing which is to allow the recommendations of the Federal Government to prevail on FUTO Land excision matter .
The Chairman of Mboke Welfare Association,Ichie Lawrence Nwaneri lamented that impostors and fradulent elements are ploting with FUTO to dispose the Land owners of their ancestral land.
While Messers Emeka Nkwopara and Henry Eziefula maintained that Stanley Anyanwu,Anthony Anuforo and China Nnadi are not their representatives rather they are allegedly conniving with the University to rob them of the excised FUTO Land.
