Worried about incesant media publications and public awareness by mischief makers of the Labour Party, different groups;the Peter Obi unified Movement, Concerned Imo Youths, (Home and Abroad) and
Devine Mandate Solution have, enjoined detractors to stop parading themselves as candidates of the party in Imo State.
Speaking with newsmen in Owerri, recently, the convener of Peter Obi Unified Movement, Peter Obi Foundation movement, the Coordinator, Imo Solution as well as the coordinator Concerned Labour Party Youths, Home and Abroad, Comrade Modestus Iheme stated, that His Excellency, Ikechukwu Joseph Ukegbu (Ikenga), remains the authentic flag-bearer of the Labour Party in the State for the guber election coming up on November.
He said that Chief Ukegbu emerged as the Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate at the just concluded Labour Party gubernatorial primary election in Imo State.
” Among all the aspirants, Ukegbu is the only one that is a strong member of Labour Party for the past 19 years and above. What is happening in Labour Party today I believe is for every body to know that it’s not a new thing, it began with the presidential election which Mr Peter Obi emerged as the president of this Country but with the compromise of INEC, they went and pronounced the wrong person. But I’m assuring Nigerians that we will recollect our mandate.
“On the side of what is happening in Imo State, you know, you can not built and another inhabits, even the Bible abhores it. Chief Ukegbu built Labour Party and it’s time for him to inhabit it.
Primary election has been done and dusted. And the person we know and we approved, state and nation wise, both my group and any other group as our governorship candidate, is Chief Ukegbu. We believe he is the best among all. We believe he is the only one who will pilot the affairs of the state to an expected end. We believe he is the man who has conscience and all it takes to rule Imo State”,he noted.
Iheme maintained that Ukegbu has not only built the party over the years, but has been a source of survival to many Imo citizens over the years with his hard earned resources through scholarships, youth empowerment, women empowerment, and arms to the less previllaged.
He statng that, if he can do these as a person what then happens when he becomes the governor of a State.
“All these money bags are just making noise because they feel that they are money bags, but in this situation, money bags can not buy this ticket, and we the Imo Youths are hot and fit to fight it to the last call. Let Athan Otuaka go and sleep, let others go and sleep. Labour Party ticke is not for sale to people that are in need of selfish power, the ticket is for sale to people who will work for the state and I want to tell you that if Peter Obi is not supporting Chief Ikechukwu Joseph Ukegbu, he is making a mistake, we supported him and we are still waiting for his next instruction on what to do for him which will definitely do, so for that he has to put his mind together and understand that the only thing he can do is for a quest for a new Nigeria and as well as a quest for a governor who has same heart as golden and even more, than all those who are parrading themselves as candidates. They are Lars , we have been in the State and we know all of them, the codinator concluded.
Speaking also, the coordinator of Divine Mandate Solution, Comrade Odinakachi Amechi noted that among all the aspirants at the primary, Chief of Ukegbu is the only one who has been in the party for the past 19 years.
“He was Labour Party governorship candidate in 2019 election. And he has remained in the party because he is a man of integrity. Because he has the people’s interest at heart and because, he is not a political prostitute just like others who have been jumping up and down claiming to be obidients when they are not”, Mr Amechi noted.
He said that a lot of people are claiming that they are of Labour Party while the they are not.
