Bayelsa, safe for Investment -Commissioner

The Bayelsa State Government has said the state is open to individuals and corporate bodies who are ready to invest for the development and progress of the state.

 The commissioner for Trade and Investment Hon Otokito Federal Oparminola, who made the statement through the permanent secretary Mrs Patience Abah , said the ministry is responsible for implementation of policies on trade and investment issues.

She decried the unhealthy culture of selling on the road side which noted some traders believe brings about selling well.

The Permanent Secretary further disclosed that kpansha Market will be relocated to a new site , adding that government is working on putting it finishing touches to stores in the market.

She added that the ministry will work with Ministry of Environment to look at how sanitation will be done in the market including installation of Mobile Toilets in the market.

She also threw light on the plastic industry, which said was previously managed by the government , but now being privatized, stressing that government is looking at how to privatize some projects so that projects that can generate  employment will be rehabilitated.

According to her the concession is for a period of one year, adding that the state is looking inward to find out what it can manufacture , pointing out  since the federal government has declared the decade of gas, the state will seek for investment opportunities in it since has gas in abundance, even as power is critical industrialization. She noted that if youths are gainfully employed , they will not find themselves committing crime,and that will in turn make the state peaceful, secure and stable.
