Following the apparent delay in announcing results of the Saturday, March, 9,2019 re-run senatorial election in Okigwe zone(Imo North) by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,the Action Alliance, AA Candidate, Engr. Emenike Ndubuisi(Ototonwa),has called for the release of overall number of votes-cast for the candidates who participated in the election, so as determine the winner of the Okigwe senatorial seat.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Owerri, Engr. Ndubuisi, noted with dissatisfaction, that the manner in which the INEC and a few suspected electoral fraudsters are going about the declaration of the results and substantive winner of the re-run senatorial election in the zone,sends signals that some unscrupulous individuals are hell-bent on truncating his chances of victory at the polls.
According to him, results so far collated with certified copies were confirmed by the political parties’agents, observers and INEC officials at the wards and the six(6) LGAs of Okigwe zone, even as he, argued the cause of the delay and rumours making rounds in some quarters in Okigwe zone, where candidate of the APC is said to have purportedly won the election.
Engr.Ndubuisi further stated that, he is suspecting electoral fraud in the re-run election, insisting that, relevant sections of the electoral Act was grossly compromised by the INEC’s in the cause of the delay in announcing winner of the election which he said, he is sure of victory.
The Okigwe zone’s senatorial hopeful, however informed journalists that arrangements are on top gear to challenge whatever is the outcome of the election in court, as he gets ready to petition the INEC for explanation on how candidates of the senatorial election polled in Okigwe zone.
