The police in Enugu has confirmed the arrest of the suspect who shot and killed a local election observer inside the country home of the Enugu APC guber candidate Senator Ayogu Eze.
Although the police did not disclose the identify of the person arrested it is believed that the shooting was done by a security personnel who was inside the compound at the time of the incident
Enugu State Commissioner of Police Mr Sulaiman Balarabe who addressed a press conference at the state police headquarters reassured that investigation is intensified.
The security agent was believed to have shot to dispersed the crowd gathered in Ayogu’s home who were about to be mobbed.
The election monitors who later narrated their experience and how they were rescued by police and army teams said they were almost killed in the Senator’ house.
Fielding questions from newsmsn on the incident the CP said that the guber election was adjudged, even by international observers to be the best in the state.
“In some other states the exercise are yet to be concluded but here in Engu, glory be to God, it was successfully conducted and concluded. If not Fr that angular incident of killing in the house of the APC guber candidate, Ayogu Eze, the exercise in Enugu should have been adjudged the best in the country.
“Actually somebody was shot in an attempt to save the lives of many. The suspect who pulled the trigger has been arrested and investigation is still going on. “
