2019: Bayelsa NUJ sets up committees for general elections, reconciliation

Comrade Samuel Numonengi, Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bayelsa state Council,  has inaugurated seven working committees with a charge to deliver on their mandate.

Comrade Numonengi while inaugurating them in his office at NUJ Press Centre, said setting of the various committee’s became necessary in order to collectively achieve the aims and objectives of the present administration.

Terms and refrence for the various committee’s according to the chairman include, reconciling of aggrieved members, training of journalists ahead of the 2019 general election as well as to ensure the training and retraining of members of the NUJ both within and outside the country.

Others are,to organize an interactive platform between journalists and all those contesting elective positions,organize sporting activities amongst members, recommend possible ways to run the IIJ,

and ways to improve on welfare packages for journalists.

Those inaugurated are the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee,withMr Christopher Odi as chairman,FredKoin, DrPukoErefamokuma and Bassey Willie are to serve as members while EbitimiDaworiye -Ayoko is to serve as secretary.

Also inaugurated was the TrainingCommittee,withMrIgonikonOduma as Chairman,JudithYoung,EbioweiLawal and Nicodemus Dauebi are members,while George Iti is to serve as Secretary.

The IIJ Review Committee has Dr Sophia Obi-Apoko as chairman,RolandElekele,Secretary,while Stanley Imgbi,NelsonAgadi and EasterdayAyebatari are to serve as members.

Mr Mike Odiegwu, is chairman of Education and Library Committee,EbioweiLawal is to serve as secretary while Ayah Prezi,BasseyWilliams,andEnatorIsukul are members.

The Welfare Committee has Mrs Beatrice Sikpi as chairman,Mr Cyril Addy as secretary,while the members are Janet Twonmute,Constance Watson and Pauline Onyibe.

Others are Esther Yahbel,VictorChristopher,Monique Woodman and Stanley Imgbi.

The Reconciliation Committee have MrPreyeWariowei as Chairman,TimiJombo secretary while EnatoIsukul,Mr Fred FaborandMrAdetonaBakare are to serve as memebers.

Also ,the Sports Committee has AlamboDatonye as chairman,PerelotuAmgbari,JacobsonPark,GeorgeAmeli,PreyeYabrifa and Sammy Baridam are memebers while Doris Francis Eniekezimene will serve as secretary.

Responding on behalf of the committees,MrPreyeWariowei,chairman Reconciliation Committee,on behalf of the committee’s thanked the chairman for finding them worthy,noting that the task is now on them to deliver on the mandate.
