As the rains inch home on Imo state, residents of the State have raised alarm over imminent suffering staring them on the face owing to very slow pace of road construction within the state.

The people who expressed disappointment with the situation maintained that citizens of the state and other users of Imo roads will suffer untold hardship if the rains start properly without completion of ongoing roads and remediation of other  badly dilapidated ones across the state.

Making their feelings public on the issue some residents of some key roads under construction within Owerri and its environs, like MCC/Uratta Road, Naze/ Nekede/ Ihiagwa/ Obinze , World Bank/ Umuguma and Naze/ Timber Market/ Egbu/ Toronto/ Orji Junction Roads, said unless work is fast tracked on them, they will become worse than they were before work started.

According to them, their fears was informed by the fact that if rainy season sets in under the present condition of the roads, the red soil put on them will make them completely impassable and death trap for vehicles.

They noted that the ugly fate may likely befall them given the snail speed at which the construction of the roads  are being constructed and the imminence of rains.

The respondents therefore called on the governor to quickly save citizens of the state and other road users who daily use these and other roads crying for attention from avoidable suffering through prompt completion of roads.

According to them, after passing through hellfire last year as a result of broken down roads, it will amount to double jeopardy to experience the same thing this coming rainy season.
