Police Parade Kidnappers Who Threw Victim into Okija River After Collecting N9m Ransom

According to The Sun, The Imo State Police Command has paraded three suspected kidnappers who abducted a man, Mr. Obi Fredrick, and threw him into the Okija River after collecting a ransom of N9 million and stealing his SUV. The suspects, Obi Chidera Collins, Awaziama Jude, and Ejionye Darlington, were paraded alongside other suspected criminals at the police command headquarters in Owerri.

According to the police spokesperson, Henry Okoye (ASP), the suspects invaded the victim’s house, abducted him, and took him to Okija in Anambra State, where they robbed him of N9 million and other valuables. They also inflicted machete cuts on his hands before throwing him into the river. However, through data-tracking analysis, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit were able to rescue the victim from the river and recover his SUV.

The suspects continued their criminal activities, invading the residence of the victim’s brother, abducting his pregnant wife and four-year-old son, and holding them hostage. However, following technical intelligence, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit stormed the hideout, dislodged the kidnappers, arrested one suspect, and rescued the victims unhurt. The suspect’s confessions led to the arrest of two other members of his criminal syndicate, and a locally-made gun with two live cartridges was recovered from them. The police are still investigating to arrest the fleeing members of the syndicate.
