Imo Assembly Passes 2024 Appropriation Bill Into Law

…As Gov presents over N592 Budget to Lawmakers

The 2024 Appropriation Bill of #592,324,594,176 which was   presented to the Imo State House of Assembly by the  State Governor, Sen.Hope Uzodinma for approval has been passed into law.

The bill was presented by the Majority leader of the House who also  represents Owerri West State Constituency,Hon.Kanayo Onyemaechi for immediate deliberation and consideration by the House.

He urged the House to give the bill speedy passage to allow the governor the opportunity to  start earlier in implementation of the Budget for the betterment of the State.

The majority leader, noted that the budget was well spelt out and did not need much deliberation.

Debating on the bill, members who contributed to the bill urged members to give it quick passage for immediate implementation maintaining that the budget,vividly explained itself and should not take the House much time before it will be passed.

After robust deliberations and consideration, the House was later constituted to committee of the  whole house  where the  breaking down of the whole budget was read by the Speaker,Rt.Hon.Chike Olemgbe.

The Budget was later passed into law and became a working document for  the governor to  work with in 2024 fiscal year.

The bill with initial sum of #592,324,594,176 was later reduced to N576,581,347,075 this, not including the consolidated revenue fund charges of #15,743,247,101.

The House was later adjourned to January 11, 2024.
