Owerri Senate: Imo East Senatorial Poll: Mike Nwachukwu Sets Agenda

…As he continues assessment tour of zone’s infrastructural decay in 9 LGAs

The Senate as an upper chamber of the parliament in a bicameral legislature is primarily an arena of political wits which  mandate is to set agenda of development for the nation through credible representation of the various constituencies.

Over time, this lucid mandate has not been realized as a result of many factors that point towards incompetence orchestrated hitherto by electoral malpractices and brigandage which throws up representatives that do not represent the wishes of the electorate but that of their “godfathers” who manipulate them into the Green(House of Representatives) or Red Chamber(the Senate).

This history of poor Senatorial representation  has not only compromised democracy but eluded the people of good governance and representation.

There is therefore an urgent need for men with the qualities for credible representation to be voted to the Senate not just for personal grandstanding but to ensure that the people are offered effective and result – oriented representation.

Beyond sentiments, one man whose pedigree and antecedent points to  his preparedness and determination to change the narrative in Imo East (Owerri Zone) Senatorial District is  Chief Mike Nwachukwu(Mpidike).

Mike Nwachukwu with the Ikeduru LGA Co-ordinator of his Campaign Organisation Hon. Kennedy Agwamba at the intersection between Orie – Amakohia and Owu – Amakohia during their Assessment Tour of the Community Roads in Ikeduru LGA.

Miffed by the poor representation the Imo East electorate has had lately in the Senate and driven by the need to come to grips with the problems of the Zone, he  embarked on an assessment tour of the Senatorial District in order to be properly acquainted with the latest information on  peculiar and general needs of his people, an assignment he undertook at  personal cost.

The Accord Party Senatorial candidate,  reputed for selfless service and societal growth, strives for a better society where good governance is not a privilege but a right.

Chief  Nwachukwu’s strong  touch with the  grassroots and burning desire to salvage the people of Imo East Senatorial District from ineffective representation, pushed him to take the first shot at the Senatorial Seat in 2019.

Nwachukwu reared his head for the first time to be elected Senator  under the platform of APGA, considering the plight of Imo East whose roads are hitherto death traps occasioned by erosion and other ecological challenges.

The Senate originally should be a forerunner for public budgeting, therefore, Nwachukwu being grounded with such knowledge is exceptionally determined to utilize “public budgeting process” and “draw resources from the center to deal with the infrastructure deficit issues prevalent in Imo East called Owerri Zone, if elected.

In the words of Abraham Lincoln, “No one person has the right to rule over another without his or her consent.” In keeping with this, Chief Mike Nwachukwu is touring the 104 Electoral Wards of Owerri Zone to not only understand what their peculiar problems are, but also to touch base with the people, interacting with them and analysing their  challenges.

This is contrary to the traditional iconoclastic politics usually played by those who prefer to shift attention to the political godfathers rather than the generality of the people.

Nwachukwu sees the Red Chamber as a “catalyst” to address the road infrastructure deficit issues in Owerri Zone coupled with the worse form of ecological and environmental problems being experienced in various parts of the Zone.

This explains why he has painstakingly taken the project of rehabilitation of rural roads in Imo East with a sole sponsorship of on the spot assessment tours in virtually all the communities in the Zone.

It was during his assessment tour of Ugirike end of the Ikeduru – Ahiazu Mbaise road that he vowed to attract the attention of the duo of Ecological Projects Office / Federal Ministry of Environment in conjunction with Nigeria Erosion & Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP).

Agenda setting goes beyond economic banditry and squander of public resources by oligarchs who promote impoverishment through kleptomania.

In the main, that Chief Mike Nwachukwu is a “much better fit” to represent Owerri Zone is attested to by his clear and very lucid understanding of what the job entails, his clarity about what he wants to do and how he is going to do it!

Like a man with the proverbial hand of gold, he has practically touch lives positively by rekindling hope of a better representation in the Red Chamber for the teeming Owerri Zone electorate.

Chief Mike Nwachukwu has practically demonstrated strong passion and commitment to change the ugly narrative through effective representation if he is found worthy to represent his people at the Senate, come 2023.

He has consistently proven to the people that excellent performance in the Senate is not attainable without a collective involvement of the people.

One virtue that has endeared him to the people is that he feels their pains and shares in their joy.

This singular attribute is a signpost to his victory with the new electoral act that would engender voting across party lines vis-a-vis electoral transmission of votes.

It is not erroneous to state that the 2023 elections would  not be business as usual where people are either coerced to vote based on party or tribal sentiments but on the basis of merit and competence.

Chief Mike Nwachukwu therefore with his enviable qualities can swing votes regardless of Party loyalty and affiliation.

There is no doubt that the the Accord Party candidate, who understands  and feels the pulse of the people of Imo East Senatorial District, has so many positives going for him as far as the election is concerned
