The people of Umuihugba Umuodu Autonomous Community have re-validated the interim leadership of Sir Soronnadi Unegbu to continue as Town Union Executive of the Community.

The decision was made during the Easter Conference which was held at the Community Town Hall by the Representatives of the various kindreds that made up Umuihugba Umuodu Autonomous Community.

In his opening remarks, the President General of the Town Union Government, Sir Unegbu remarked that the major reason why they have gathered here is to present the account of stewardship and the event that shaped the history of the community in the past one year.

He maintained that the past one year has been a turbulent one ever since his assumption of office as his administration has never enjoyed the privilege of any formal hand over by the dissolved Ferdinand Anoruo led Town Union.

The town Union leader, maintained that the refusal of the past administration to officially hand over to him after being dissolved for over stay in office has been a major set back to his administration.

He further stated that series of court actions orchestrated by the sacked leadership of Ferdinand Anoruo who refused to hand him over since his emergence, also contributed to the numerous challenges faced by his administration.

But,he however, stressed that this year Easter Conference will as usual offer opportunities to appreciate their collective endeavors as a people with a common purpose.

“Obviously, this special Easter Conference undoubtedly, should provide the Town Union with road maps for the next one year. One of such road maps shall be the re-validation of all the houses in Azuzi layout. Such re-validation exercise will help us to determine the status of each property in Azuzi Layout”.

Also speaking during the Conference, the Eze elect of the community, Chief Analyn Nwaneri said that the event is an annual event which they did not do for the past few years due to some few individuals who decided to hold on to power without the mandate of the community in order to continue looting the common wealth of the community.

Chief Nwaneri narrated that the major reason why the community unanimously, elected the interim Town Union ably led by Unegbu was to bring the community back to the right place and correct the wrongs done under Ferdinand Anoruo administration.

Lending his own voice, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, C.P Dan Okoro (Rtd) stated that the community has witnessed a lot of administrative disservice in the past few years by group of people who are no longer wanted by the community to lead them but still want to hold on to power by force.

He maintained that it is an aberration that people that were entrusted with People’s patrimony will alienate the property that is commonly owned by the community to their personal use.

The Easter Conference was witnessed by the Eze elect, Onye Isi Ala Owerri, the village heads, Ndi Oha Na Obilobi, Nde Ndom, Ndi Mgboto and youth heads.
