Two Women Feared Dead As Sporadic Shootings By Security Agents Continue In Owerri

Reported sporadic shootings by security agents in the Orji area of Owerri, the Imo State Capital has allegedly claimed  two lives.

Those allegedly killed by stray bullets were two  women who were  reportedly  hit when soldiers and police operatives who were said to have gone to Orji to confront hoodlums who attacked the Police Divisional Office in the area, started shooting indiscriminately.

A source told this newspaper that the security agents arrived the scene of the attack after the hoodlums had left and immediately Started shooting sporadically, leading to the two women being hit by bullets.

The source further revealed that one of the victims died on the spot, while the second was seriously injured and quickly rushed to the hospital by good spirited individuals.

The shooting in Orji forced businesses, schools and banks operating along  Mbari, Government House Roundabout and Okigwe Road/ Orji axis to hurriedly close their doors, bringing the days activities to a sudden halt.

On the roads and streets vehicle drivers and pedestrians were seen running helter skelter in an attempt to avoid being hit by stray bullets.

Some citizens who witnessed the ugly incident of yesterday bemoaned what they viewed as none adherence to rules of their engagement by security agents who came to confront the attackers, stressing that it was what led to deaths allegedly  recorded during the incident
