Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal House: Ahiazu Leaders endorse Igbokwe for 2019

With the political situation in the country stepping up as to build up to the 2019 general election hits up, the entire political leaders in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government in unism this week Monday endorsed for third term the incumbent Federal House member representing Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency, Hon Nnanna Raphael Igbokwe, saying this is the best thing that can happen to the Igbo man after 2019.
In a meeting hosted by Igbokwe in his Ogwuama Ahiara country home, after going down memory lane on his antecedents right from the State House of Assembly till now, coupled with what both Mbaise and Igbo nation will gain if he goes back to the Federal House, the political leaders had no option than giving him a resounding voice vote approval or endorsement for a possible return to the Federal House.
Our staff who covered the meeting confirmed that various political leaders in Ahiazu attended the meeting and Hon Igbokwe revealed that in the present dispensation, in All Progressive Congress (APC), there is no agreement and he reminded all that were present that the earlier arrangement for going to the Federal House by the two sister LGs was each LG to go for two terms alternatively, but that arrangement was breached by Ezinihitte LG when they could not allow Hon Tony Anyanwu Jnr. Second term in 2003, before Hon Independence Ogunewe from Ezinihitte LG came in and had his two terms.
He emphasized that the one term they lost in 2003 is what they are taking up now that both LGs have finished their slots of two terms each.
Hon Igbokwe further stressed that Hon Independence Ogunwe from Ezinihitte has gone for a slot of two terms while himself Hon Raphael Igbokwe has gone for a slot of two terms and that now both sister LGs have gone apiece, themselves from Ahiazu LG wants to complet the one term lost by the LG in 2003 and apart from that, now they have gone one slot, a piece, assuming they need to start the rotation again, it is the LG that had the last slot as is done in Igbo land and coupled with the fact that Ahaizu is the senior in the two LGs, they need to take first share in any sharing issues now.
Apart from the earlier points, Hon Igbokwe further stressed that both Imo State and Igbo nation will stand to gain if he goes back to the Federal House, as a senior ranking member, there are likelihood that he may get the position of sp or Deputy Speaker of the Federal House which will in no small measure benefit the state and Igbo race, a project he said the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is very much interested in, which he is very ready as ever to pursue.
Hon Igbokwe used the opportunity to inform the political leaders in his LG the achievements he has been able to make since he has been both at the state and Federal House, most importantly, his bill which made the Federal Government to start recognizing NECO and NABTEB exams in the country which stands till date.
He said that before, he was the leader, House caucus for Federal House Members from Imo State, but since his defection to the ruling party APC, he has become the leader Federal House caucus committee of the party in the South East which automatically makes him a members of the National Executive Committee of the party which is quite broader in scope, and that presently, he is the most Snr. Federal House Member in the South East.
He further said that if he becomes a speaker, he will also be a member of the National Executive committee.
In his reaction, a political leader in the area, and a former Ahiazu TC Chairman, Dr. Karchy Nwoga said from what the Hon member has explained, it will be foolhardy for them to deny him from going back to the Federal House, while urging the political leaders to see reason on all he has told them and make informed opinion.
In his own, the Ahiazu LG party chairman, Chief Ifeanyi Eke appreciated the way and manner the Hon member explained all the issues one after the other and agreed that really, both the party and the state will benefit if he goes back to the federal House since most of their members will stand a chance of gaining much.
He advised them to give the issue a deserving serious thought for positive response and also advised the Honourable member to try and finalize with the leader of the party who is Governor Okorocha because wherever he directs them, they will go.
Hon Chief Law Ikire from Ahiazu on his own appreciated all the Hon Member said and promised to mobilize their members to see reason on all that have been discussed.
