A former transition committee chairman of Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, Nze Enyia Dimkpa, has expressed joy over the disarmament of the militants, in the oil-producing areas of the state.

Nze Dimkpa who spoke to newsmen in Owerri, commended the militants for accepting to submit their arms and get themselves re-integrated into the society.

He expressed optimism that with the successful implementation of the disarmament programme, militancy and cultism would be eliminated from the area, and meaningful economic development would flourish in the communities.

According to him, the oil companies including Shell, Agip and Waltersmith operating in the oil-bearing communities have unfortunately not implemented their Corporate Social Responsibilities to ensure the economic development of the communities.

Nze Dimkpa therefore solicited the support of the oil companies, the Federal Government and Non-Government Organizations in ensuring the successful re-integration of the former militants into the development of the oil-producing communities.
