Imo Digital Economy Commissioner To Perm Secs, Technology, Crucial To Effective Service Delivery

The Commissioner for Digital Economy and E-Governance, Imo State, Dr Chimezie Amadi says technology remains key to achieving innovations and effective service delivery in the public service.
The commissioner who stated this while delivering a lecture at 2-Day Training Workshop for Imo permanent secretaries, organized by the Office of the Head of the Service of Imo State,
harped on the.need for the application of technologies like artificial intelligence, AI, to public service for effective service delivery.
Describing technology   as the application of scientific knowledge, tools and systems to problem solving, Dr Amadi noted that technology simplifies tasks as well as enhances smart decisions, creates transparency while reducing errors.
Amadi disclosed that his ministry created MyImoApp to enhance e-governance in the state, noting that technology
has created significant opportunities for government to enhance service delivery.
The commissioner further added that his Digital Economy and E-Governance ministry has used technology to ascertain challenges in some ministries, departments and agencies including in agriculture, health, education, Imo Internal Revenue Service, among others.
He also highlighted that data makes for informed  government decisions.
Dr Amadi equally reminded the permanent secretaries that public service must be geared towards serving people, saying that anything to the contrary is tantamount to using the engine of governance for private service.
“Public servants must always think the public first, in the discharge of their duties,” the commissioner advised.
Amadi thumbed up Governor Hope Uzodinma whom he described as the most innovative governor, saying that through massive investment in ICT and the digital sector, the governor has  reversed the previous trend where according to him, people with ICT and digital skills were hired from outside Imo State
