If You Don’t Stone Us Politicians, They’ll Not Stop Stealing -Amaechi

Former Rivers State governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has defended himself against criticism over his recent comments on poverty and economic hardship in Nigeria, insisting that he has consistently spoken out against poor governance and corruption throughout his political career.

Amaechi made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, May 22, 2026, after being questioned about why he appeared more vocal about hardship now than during his nearly eight years in the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former minister was asked why the “passionate urgency” he now expresses regarding hunger, poverty, and economic challenges was not more visible while he served in government.
