…As Indigenes express worry over delay
An Owerri High Court presided over by Hon Justice Nosiri has adjourned to April 24 and June 3, 2026, on the suit filed by some indigenes of Owere Nchi ise community in Owerri Municipal Council of Imo State.
It will be recalled that the suit instituted by some indigenes of Owere Nchi ise against the action of the then Okorocha administration that balkanised the community into five autonomous communities, has lingered in court for ten years; a development that apparently worries many indigenes of the community.
To many indigenes of the community, the balkanisation of the Owere nchi ise community has seriously affected the unity, tradition and image of the community, and to a large extent, diminished its respect in the eyes of its neighbours amidst other communities.
It is widely believed that Owere Nchi ise community has never been the same since it was split into five different autonomous communities.
Nigeria Newspoint gathered that many indigenes of Owere Nchi ise are anxious and desirous of
a speedy conclusion of the matter which has lingered in court since 2016.
