Indoimitable Golden Age: Ex – Imo Speaker, Nwoha Celebrates 60th Birthday, As Orluzurumee, Onuegbu, KK Nwagwu Hail Him

In the tumultuous journey of life often laddened with torns and spikes, the weak and feeble-minded often fall by the wayside. So also with the luckless. But for others who tenaciously reach the golden age, to God be the glory.

For the Rt Hon Barr Amaechi Nwoha, his journey of grace began 60 years ago.

Born on September 15, 1965, the former speaker of the Imo House of Assembly,  hails from Amaigbo in the present day Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State.

He attended Bishop Shonehan College Orlu, for his O’Level between 1979 and 1984; and the Federal College Arts and Science, Ondo, Ondo State, for his A’ Level between 1984 and 1986.

Thereafter, Rt Hon Barr Amaechi Nwoha proceeded to the University of Lagos

for his law degree graduating in 1990 with LL.B.

He also attended the Nigeria Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos, for his B.L in 1991.

After a successful university training, Rt Hon Barr Amaechi Nwoha worked with a number of legal firms including Edogar and Partners, Katsina, Katsina State, where he participated in the compulsory one year National Youth Service Corp programme in between 1991 and 1992.

He later worked with other legal firms such as  Femi Falana & Co, Ikeja, Lagos as a legal practitioner between 1992 and 1994; between 1994 and 1996, he worked with

Olu Awotesu & Co, Sabo Yaba, Lagos also as a legal practitioner, before setting up his own  chamber – Amaechi Nwoha & Co, Apapa, Lagos, between 1996 and 2003, distinguishing himself as an accomplished legal practitioner.

Rt Hon Barr  Amaechi Nwoha stepped into the murky waters of politics where providence and credibility saw his emergence as member representating Nwangele State Constituency in the Imo House of Assembly between 2003 and 2011.

He emerged as Speaker of the Imo House of Assembly before the end  of the tenure of 6th Assembly in 2011. He served a full circle of two tenures as the member representing Nwangele state constituency in the Imo House of Assembly.

It is trite to mention that his brilliance and character shone like a thousand stars throughout his stay in the Imo House of Assembler to the admiration of his colleagues.

The journey of grace continued for this legal guru and undisputed gentleman, when in 2011

the then Imo governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha  appointed him Special Adviser on Legislative Matters (House of Assembly Liaison Officer).

After serving in that capacity, he was again appointed Chairman of the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC, where equally served meritoriously between  2013 to 2018.

Rt Hon Barr Amaechi Nwoha returned to the his primary constituency that is legal practice, by joining Onyema Chambers, Legal Practitioners, Owerri, from 2018 to date.

What a journey of grace indeed.

Rt Hon Barr Amaeci Nwoha is happily married with children.

To God be all the glory!
