Police Officers Were Never Attacked At Emekuku- Imo CP

The Imo State Police Command has denied the veracity of a circulating video alleging an attack on and killing of police officers in Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State on November 17, 2023.

ASP Henry Okoye, the Police Public Relations Officer, issued a statement in Owerri, clarifying that there is no recorded incident of such an attack or loss of officers in Imo State on the mentioned date.

Addressing the confusion surrounding the video, Okoye specified that the depicted incident actually occurred at Nwofe Road, on the outskirts of Abakiliki Town, and not in Imo State.

He highlighted that the Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the attack and is actively pursuing a rigorous manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the heinous act.

Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, urged the general public to dismiss the misinformation circulating in various media channels.

He attributed the dissemination of false information to rumor peddlers and miscreants, emphasizing their inclination to create panic and apprehension among the citizens of Imo State.

In an effort to reassure the public, CP Danjuma encouraged Imolites to proceed with their daily activities without fear or intimidation.

He asserted that the Imo State Police Command, under his vigilant leadership, is unwavering in its commitment to ensuring the utmost safety and security of law-abiding residents.

The Commissioner further stressed the importance of sustaining the established peace and vibrant nightlife within the state.

He appealed to ‘Ndi Imo,’ to actively cooperate with the police and other sister security agencies.

He urged them to promptly report any suspicious individuals or clandestine activities observed in their vicinity to the nearest police station.

CP Danjuma called upon the media to play a responsible role in disseminating accurate information.

He emphasized the significance of reporting only verified and credible news to the public, reinforcing the partnership between the Imo State Police Command and the media in fostering transparency and public trust.
