Unpaid Imo Teachers Cry Out To Uzodinma, We Are Dying Of Hunger

…Protest over 42 months salary arrears

Score of  Primary and Secondary school teachers in Imo state recently held a peaceful protest over their unpaid salary arrears owed by the State government Spanning over 42months, precisely,3years and eight months.

The teachers who took off with  their peaceful protest from Okigwe Road,had placards expressing their sadness and frustration at the alleged  insensitiveness of the state government about  their plights.

Speaking to Journalists, some teachers expressed shock that despite their commitment to Work,the   Uzodinma led government  has not paid them their entitlements since 2020 when  he became governor.

They decried a situation where they have been subjected to all forms of verifications yet nothing came  out of them all.

Most of them,the alleged  are dead because they couldn’t take care of themselves anymore,as their families wallow in abject lack and poverty.

According to the teachers, they were tagged Ghost workers without the government doing anything to ascertain the veracity of the said damaging claim. Most of them were falsely labeled to have absconded from duty, yet they go to school every day.

The protesting teachers lamented their ordeal for over 42 Months without salary, revealing how they have become objects of mockery and caricature in their various communities, families and churches,even organisations where they can no longer make meaningful monetary contributions as members.

They appealed to the governor to save them from further shame, hunger and mockery and pay them their entitlements as they have fulfilled every requirements demanded of them as teachers in Imo state school system.
