The Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede in Owerri West Local Government Area, Imo State, Dr, Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa was last  Sunday honoured with an award by traditional rulers, in appreciation of his good works since his assumption of office.

Eze M.M. Keke of Amainyinta autonomous community in Ihitte-Uboma LGA of Imo State who presented the award to the Rector on behalf of Royal Stars of Imo State, during the May 2021 edition of the monthly meeting of the group of the Royal fathers, held at the palace of the host traditional ruler of the Polytechnic, Eze Godwin Merenini, commended the Rector for his unflinching support in the community policing program of the state government, and for maintaining a harmonious relationship between the institution and the community

Eze Keke who is also  the chairman of the Royal Stars explained that the host traditional ruler had always told them about the efforts of the Rector in maintaining peace in his community, which he said, informed the award, to encourage him to continue in his good works.

Eze Merenini who is the deputy chairman of the Royal Stars expressed appreciation to Dr Arimanwa in helping the community in the fight against crime and prayed God to guide him.

In his response, the Rector thanked the traditional rulers for the honour done to him.

“I have been doing my work consciously, but I didn’t know that somebody somewhere has been watching me.

“When I assumed office, I saw the need of establishing a cordial relationship with the host community, especially in the area of security challenges. Today we have up to seven security outfits, and I want to thank Eze Merenini for his  cooperation.

He used the opportunity to commend the federal government for coming to their rescue, by tarring the major roads leading to the Polytechnic.

Earlier at a church service that preceded the meeting of the Royal fathers held at Christian Pentecostal Mission, CPM, Umukoto, Nekede, the pastor, Rev Gabriel Achonye advised the royal fathers to endeavour to live “Royal Legacies” while still on their thrones.

Rev Achonye who took his Bible text from Rev 1 verse 6; 1st Peter 2 verse 9; Ecclesiastes 8 verse 4 further urged them to always make themselves available vessels in defense of justice, no matter the situation they find themselves.

“Always bear in mind that you are leading people with divers interest, divers opinion and divers black ground. There must be opposition and challenges, that is why you should always stand firm and bold in saying the truth.

“I urge you to be mentally alive, bold and courageous always. Speak with authority, and without fear. Our nation is in dire need of people who can speak out. That is the only way we can change the situation we find ourselves”
