…Denies backdating documents
Few days after the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State made a startling revelation of what is described as on-going sale-off of 71 state government vehicles and other heavy duty equipment by the out-going Rescue Mission administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha after failing to install his son-inlaw as successor, the present APC government in the state has finally admitted selling the said vehicles.
In a press briefing Friday in Owerri, the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, SGI, Mr. Mark Uchendu told newsmen that the administration of Governor Okorocha actually ordered the so-called auctioning of 71 vehicles on grounds that they have become unserviceable, but denied that the memos issued to ministries and agencies to that effect were not back-dated.
Imo PDP had, during a press briefing on Wednesday last week, alleged that Okorocha’s government issued the memos shortly after his son-inlaw, Mr. Uche Nwosu failed to win the governorship of the state on the platform of the Action Alliance, AA, PDP also accused Okorocha of deliberately plotting to create problems for its soon-to-be sworn-in government of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha by allegedly looting state government property and issuing back-date Certificate-of-Occupancy (C-of-Os) including last minute employment letters.
Imo PDP which also revealed that a traditional ruler from Orlu zone, His Royal Highness, Eze M.U. Osakwe was contracted by Okorocha for the purpose of the auctioning of 71 heavy duty vehicles and equipment, also warned the public to stay away from such alleged underhand deals as the incoming PDP government of Ihedioha would do everything to recover all looted property of the state.
Some of the 71 vehicles being sold off include Toyota land cruisers, Trucks, Toyota corolla, Camry, Hilux, payloaders, self loaders, generating sets, among others.
