Imo Governorship: PDP set to implode over delegates election

The relative peace being enjoyed by Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may soon give way to crisis as tension continue to mount ahead of the party delegates election.
The party is scheduled to elect three delegates from each of the three hundred and five (305) electoral wards of the state ahead of it’s primary elections to elect candidates for the 2019 election.
Those elected delegates would become part of an electoral college or delegates on whose shoulders electing the party candidates would lie.
Given the important role they are going to play, politicians angling for tickets for various offices have been neck deep plotting and scheming to out manoeuvre one another to ensure their loyalists make the delegates list in their wards.
Expectedly, this underground shenanigans is pitching both aspirants and their loyalists in the wards across the state.
But, it was gathered that the party is being split along two major camps being controlled by Hon Emeka Ihedioha and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, popularly known as Samdaddy
Already, the impending crisis has come into the open in many LGAs such as Owerri North, Ikeduru ,Ngor Okpala and the three councils of Mbaise, even as many of the aggrieved party members are said to be raising alarm and threatening fire and brimstone.
Speaking on condition of anonymity an aide to one of the governorship aspirants expressed fears about the unfolding scenario, warning that looming crisis,if not addressed could lead to the implosion of the PDP.
He urged the state chairman of the party, Chief Charles Ezekwem to match words with action in his mantra of providing level playing field for every aspirant of the party to forestall another political disaster in 2019.
