The National Democratic Congress ,NDC, Nopolitical party has officially concluded the screening process for its House of Assembly aspirants, as Mr. Godson Nwachukwu, widely known as “Bunyanga,” was cleared as the party’s aspirant for the upcoming 2027 general elections in the Aboh Mbaise State Constituency.
Speaking with journalists in Owerri on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, shortly after his successful screening by national and state officers of the NDC, Bunyanga, a prominent youth activist and ardent advocate for good governance in Nigeria, revealed that his decision to contest in the 2027 general elections was a well-considered one. He emphasized that it involved extensive consultations with political leaders and key stakeholders across Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area.
“The compelling need for a responsive and articulate voice to represent the Aboh Mbaise Constituency became a challenge I simply could not resist,” Bunyanga stated, highlighting his motivation to address the perceived underrepresentation of his people.
Bunyanga lamented the current state of affairs in Aboh Mbaise, asserting that the local government has been significantly underrepresented, as if “nobody can stand to present our challenges and desires.” He expressed confidence in his “reach and capacity to attract democracy dividends” to the constituency, particularly for the youth and women who face considerable needs. He specifically pointed to the deplorable condition of roads, citing areas like Lagwa, Okeuvuru, and Amuzu as examples of neglect.
“By God’s grace, when elected as a member of the Imo House of Assembly, I am committed to ensuring that our constituency receives its due recognition,” Bunyanga pledged. He further outlined his immediate priorities, stating, “Our roads would be a priority as I will lobby the governor and my colleagues to help my people. It’s as if we are forgotten. This cannot continue if my party, the NDC, emerges victorious.”
Bunyanga, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Bunyanga Nigeria Ltd, is well-regarded as a philanthropist, a passionate advocate for good governance, and a catalyst for social change. Hailing from Lagwa Okwuato, he has a proven track record of leadership, having held various positions within his community and the local government area, where he is credited with discharging his duties commendably.
A group of youths who accompanied Bunyanga to the NDC screening venue for Imo House of Assembly aspirants also spoke to newsmen, attesting to the politician’s integrity and capacity. They expressed strong belief that his leadership would bring significant benefits to Aboh Mbaise and the state at large.
