The immediate past First Lady of Ondo State, Dr Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has expressed intent to run for Owerri senatorial seat in Imo, come 2027.

The former Ondo State first lady who made this known yesterday, during a chat with section of Newspaper Publishers and newsmen in Owerri, reiterated her resolve to continue to show interest in issues affecting Imo State as a daughter of Emeabiam in Owerri West LGA.

She decried the poor state of schools and health centres in the various communities, including what she called the absence of police station in her own Emeabiam community in Owerri West Local Government Area.

Dr Anyantu-Akeredolu wondered what the representatives of Owerri Zone in the National Assembly ,NASS are doing for the zone.

The wife of the former Ondo State governor, late Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, disclosed that she had gotten in touch with the Inspector General of Police, IGP Egbetokun for the setting up of a Police post at Emeabiam, even as she lamented the level of insecurity in her Owerri West LGA.

She expressed optimism that the police station would help bring security band restore peace in the area.

“I will be on the ballot for Owerri Zone senate seat in 2027. I’m seriously consulting ,right now with my people.

“We have bench warmers as representatives in NASS.

Enough of wheelbarrows, grinding machines and local stoves as palliatives,” the former Ondo First Lady said.

She maintained that Owerri Zone was lowly represented in Abuja, reiterating that there was need for effective representation of the zone in the National Assembly.

She equally described Senator Natasha as a gold standard for lawmaking, and urged others to copy and not disregard her ideas as a woman.
