OSTS CLASS 1985: Orodo Secondary School Old Students Remember Alma Mater, Renovate Classroom Block 

…Principal: We’re relieved to an extent

As an act of giving back to Alma Mater, the Old Students Of Orodo Secondary Technical School, Mbaitoli LGA in Imo State, have renovated one of the Classroom Blocks, aimed at enhancing conducive learning environment for the students.

The philanthropic gesture was exhibited by 1985 set of the students of the school who promised to do more for the School inorder to retain its old glory.

In a speech presented by the chairman, Board Of Trustees, BOT, of the set, Chief Joe Gilbert Anorue, stated that the gesture is a little way of showing appreciation to the school that made them what they have become in the society.

Chief Anorue, maintained that he learned what leadership is all about during his secondary school days as a class Prefect throughout his time at the school.

He advised the staff and students of the school to make good use of the newly renovated structures, promising them that more projects are coming to the School.

The BoT chairman used the occasion to announce that, there is going to be an annual School debate, competition to sharpen and raise the intellectual capacity of the students.

He further informed that a total amount of N300,000, will be mapped out for the intellectual exercise where best debater in each category will go home with sum of N100,000, while the second runner up will earn N50,000.

” These incentive will motivate fierce competition and encourage everyone to give their best.

I invite all students to participate, enhance their skills and showcase their talents in what promises to be an exciting and rewarding experience for everyone involved.”he stated.

Earlier, in her address, the Principal of the School, Lady Florence.M.Obinna on behalf of the school management expressed gratitude to the Old Students for remembering the school in such a humanitarian manner.

She said that the gesture is a testament of the commitment the old students have to education and community development.

The Principal, added that the renovation of the classroom block is a significant step towards restoring the School’s facilities and providing a healthy learning environment to the students.

She thanked the 1985 class for their kindness and investment in the school.

The principal however, used the occasion to highlight some pressing challenges facing the school which include, the school Laboratory which according to her was destroyed by a fire incident.

Lady Obinna appealed to other Old Students, philanthropists and other kind hearted individuals to assist the school.

She also used the occasion to acknowledge the contributions made by other sets, 1998 and 2000 for donating some Laboratory equipment and other relevant projects done for the school.

The event was witnessed by staff, students and the representative of Parent Teachers Association, PTA, not excluding the 1985 set represented by some of their classmates.

In attendance also was some officials from the State Education Management Board, SEMB.

Highpoint of the event was a cultural dance displayed by the students to the admiration of the visitors.
