As the countdown to the 2027 general elections gathers momentum, one of the most important responsibilities of every eligible voter in Imo State is to know exactly where to vote before election day.
A Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) is only as useful as the voter’s ability to locate the correct polling unit. Many citizens arrive on election day only to discover they are at the wrong location, wasting valuable time and, in some cases, missing the opportunity to vote altogether.
“Forewarned is forearmed,” has never been more relevant. Likewise, “A stitch in time saves nine.”
Knowing your polling unit today will save you stress, confusion, and disappointment tomorrow.
According to the official polling unit distribution for Imo State, the state has 4,758 polling units spread across its 27 Local Government Areas.

Among the LGAs, Mbaitoli has the highest number of polling units (287), followed by Owerri West (251), Owerri Municipal (239), and Owerri North (236). At the other end, Onuimo has 97 polling units, the fewest in the state.
Every ward in Imo State has designated polling units where registered voters are expected to cast their ballots. Voters should not wait until election morning before searching for their polling units. Visit your community, confirm your ward and polling unit, and encourage your family, neighbours, and friends to do the same.
Democracy works best when citizens are prepared. Your vote is your voice, but that voice can only be heard if you arrive at the right polling unit.
The 2027 elections will shape the future of Imo State and Nigeria. Let every Imolite take this simple but vital step:
Know your polling unit. Locate it early. Vote peacefully. Defend your vote lawfully.
A prepared voter is an empowered voter, and an empowered electorate is the strongest foundation of democracy.
