High Chief Okey Amadi, the African Democratic Congress ,ADC flag bearer for the Owerri Federal Constituency in the upcoming 2027 elections, has commenced a series of crucial consultation visits, engaging directly with community stakeholders to present his comprehensive agenda for development. His recent engagements included impactful meetings with women organizations and Naze Youth at the esteemed Palace of Obizieobi, Naze, in Owerri North Local Government Area,Imo State.
During an interactive session with the people of Naze and representatives of the Hawusa Community, High Chief Amadi clarified the fundamental purpose of his outreach. He emphasized that his foray into politics is not driven by personal ambition but by a profound commitment to address the long-standing neglect and abandonment suffered by the Owerri Federal Constituency. He expressed deep regret over the dashed hopes and wasted years resulting from previous administrations, whose promises of improved welfare for the people of Owerri Federal Constituency proved to be “efforts in futility.” Amadi underscored the urgent need to halt this cycle of poor representation.

Amadi, the ADC candidate, passionately articulated his vision for a new era of accountable leadership:
“We must elect capable individuals who will remember us. Our people are suffering immensely. Representatives are elected to care for their constituents, not for self-enrichment. Their counterparts from the Northern parts of the country in the Federal House, who are my friends, are performing exceptionally well. They actively lobby for federal jobs for their youth in various offices and paramilitary agencies. In Owerri Federal Constituency, we currently lack high-ranking officers in the Nigerian Force or Customs. This is precisely why I want to represent my people in the Federal House to ensure our youth are well-positioned at the helm of affairs in the country, thereby reducing unemployment, which is a major cause of social vices. My tenure will not be business as usual; I am committed to this election with unwavering resolve, I am not here for a joke.”
A track record of service and philanthropy;
High Chief Amadi asserted his commitment to integrity, stating he would not make empty political promises. He pledged to only campaign on initiatives he has already undertaken with his personal resources, assuring voters that if elected, he would continue to build upon this foundation of service. He highlighted his significant contributions:
“I operate one of the largest bakeries in Imo State at Obibiezena, employing individuals from all communities within the Owerri Federal Constituency at various levels. This bakery generates funds for my ‘Sir Okey Amadi Foundation,’ which covers school fees, medical bills, and provides other essential assistance i rendered to people in my Constituency.”
He further reassured the community of his dedication to bringing beneficial information and opportunities to both the young and old. Citing security as a critical concern, Amadi proudly mentioned his initiative to deploy “drone gadgets with bells” in Obibiezena. These drones fly around the community to detect security threats, raise alarms, and mobilize residents, effectively assisting local vigilante groups. He vowed to replicate this innovative security measure across other communities in the Owerri Federal Constituency, lamenting that current leaders prioritize their own security while the populace suffers.
Speaking on the imperative of effective representation, Okey Amadi declared:
“I am going to bring a lot of good things to make life easier and better for our people. While I may not always be physically present, my works will speak volumes and be evident. I will bring jobs, and our roads will be fixed.”
He urged every eligible citizen to secure their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) to exercise their civic rights in 2027. He advised voters to meticulously scrutinize those seeking their votes, ensuring they elect individuals who will genuinely represent their interests. Amadi emphasized that every vote counts, asserting, “If your votes did not matter, no politician would be begging for them.”
Addressing the prevalent disinterest in academics among Nigerian youth, which he attributed to a poor educational system, graduate unemployment, negative peer influence, and bad leadership, Amadi promised to introduce ideas and programs designed to motivate young people towards both formal and informal education. His goal is to improve their lives and reduce social vices within the Owerri Federal Constituency.
Community endorsement and a call for change;
High Chief Obinna Ejikeme-Nze, a respected community leader, described High Chief Okey Amadi as a brother and personal friend of integrity. Ejikeme-Nze expressed deep satisfaction with Amadi’s visit, noting that many who have visited the Palace in the past have achieved positive outcomes. He lauded the interactive session and the comprehensive plans Amadi presented for the Owerri Federal Constituency if elected in 2027, stating, “I believe totally in him based on the things he has done; he’s a man of his words.”
Addressing the fact that both the incumbent (APC) and Okey Amadi (ADC) hail from Obibiezena, High Chief Ejikeme-Nze stressed the community’s desire for tangible results:
“We want results. The incumbent is not doing well, and people are complaining. There’s no need voting for such a person again. So, we better vote for the candidate we are sure will deliver the dividends of democracy to his people.”
