History was again made in the Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency of Imo State as the member representing this part of the Nigerian federation in the green chambers at Abuja who is no less a person than Hon Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu deemed it fit to reward some of his lieutanants who helped him to climb the ladder and arrive at the top of the enviable position of being counted as one of the successful candidates after the tough and rigorous contest of that political office.
There is an adage that says that “Anything worth doing deserves worth doing well, for the essence of its wellbeing is in its self an honest reward”.So for the fact that this son of the soil from the oil-rich Izombe community in Oguta Local Government saw the need for him to come out and give his people an adequate representation and bring down the dividends of democracy home to his people is not an easy assignment. Having been there in just a space of three years, he decided that his impact must be felt positively on his constituents as he showered them with some windfalls of paliatives ranging from bags of grains of rice and other food items to real economic empowerment as he added sewing and grinding machines as well as cash to assist the indigent amongst his constituents.
Recently on Friday, February 26 he decided to raise the bar of representation as he doled out car gifts to his able lieutanants who helped in navigating his way up to the seat of the Federal House of Representatives. First on the list is Engr Nwabueze Oguchienti(aka Eze Oru) who was given a Toyota Highlander jeep as he is the director-general of the Project Dibiagwu Legacy Organization, 2023.Others so favoured were Hon Chief Felix Uba;Hon Tonna Obioha;Hon Obioma Obasi and Hon Chuks Ugboma whose palms were oiled with car keys of a total of four Toyota Corolla cars each as a testament to a reward for hardwork. In his speech at the historic event Hon Dibiagwu noted that in every success endeavour, certain persons or instruments are identified as special vehicles for the realization of such success or breakthrough which he found the full expression in the individual and collective efforts of the afore mentoned individuals. Speaking further the gas and oil business magnate revealed thus:
“In the wisdom of the handlers of the campaign for my election, certain persons were selected for the execellence associated with the success of the project”. He explained that these individuals were later considered and appointed as the heads of campaign commitee organizations as director-general, the deputy with others known and empowered as co-ordinators who handled the election during the period. He noted that this cream of personalities were exceptional pivots in mobilizing both human and material resources for the success story.
He pointed out that all had gathered to promote, appreciate and celebrate the drivers of the success story as well as a grand fulfilment of one of their cardinal campaign promises in 2023 which is promise made, kept and fulfilled as he also acknowledged the support of the executive governor of Imo State in the person of Senator Hope Uzodinma.
Speaking in appreciaton, the recipient of the biggest largesse Engr Oguchienti on behalf of his colleagues observed that Hon Dibiagwu has used the action to put smiles on the faces of the benficiaries as well as their families, friends and well wishers and constituents. Others who graced and spoke on the epoch-making event include the other recipients, the representative of the governor Chief Ralph Nwosu who is the commissioner for Works who commended the donor for his high level of representation and making the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in the state proud.
Others who withnessed the memorable event were a former state legislature Chief Goddy Esom Obodo, the members of the APC leadership in the federal constituency, traditional rulers, the women group and their leaders among whom was Hon Mrs Ify Ejiofor Obi who remarked alongside others that Hon Dibiagwu must go for a second term as she warned other aspirants that the incumbent has designed a standard too high to surpass and should therefore brace up for the challenge, adding that the constituents have not tasted this level of representation before. It there boils down to the saying that to whom much is given, much is expected as more feather has been added to the cap of both Dibiagwu and his lieutanants by these noble deeds.
Therefore, the good people of Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency are still yearning for more of this high level of representation like Oliver Twist as they pray for a more successful representation and God’s guidance to our man in Abuja as the holy scriptures say that a house built on a hill cannot be hidden, noting that we should let men see our good works and glorify our father who is in heaven. In all honesty, a good example deserves emulation.
