…Alleges: Rural, urban roads, schools, health infrastructure collapsing
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State chapter, has challenged Governor Hope Uzodinma to disclose the cost of projects recently commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday, Sept.30
In a press statement signed by the publicity secretary of the party in Imo, Lancelot Obiaku, the party challenged Governor Uzodinma to tell Imolites the cost of each of the projects commissioned on Tuesday, including the Flyover at Assumpta/Control Post Roundabout, the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre,EIICC , as well as the federal high way, Owerri-Umuahia road.
The party which expressed scepticism over compliance with the issue of
public procurement, maintained that governance has to be transparent rather than a private affair.
Imo PDP further stated that Imolites were gnashing their teeth under untold hardship, even as it blasted the Uzodinma administration over alleged collapse of rural roads, public schools’ and health facilities, among others.
The party further queried the continued ignoring of “critical city roads and a myriad of death trap roads in rural communities…”
Imo PDP wondered how the present administration in the state would be celebrating the Assumpta Flyover while the Umuguma road which is a stone throw from the Flyover, remains a death trap.
The party equally listed a number of roads in the state that it noted ,have become impassable to include the Nekede-Ihiagwa-FUTO road, Akwakuma Junction to Hardel Junction, Akwakuma Junction to Egbeada, IMSU Junction to Works Layout, Akwakuma Flyover to Orji Flyover, IMSU Junction to Standard Shoes, World Bank roundabout to Hospital Junction World bank to Yar’Adua Drive Owerri, among others.
The party however, assured that it would not hesitate to make its findings on the alleged bogus cost of commissioned projects known to the public ,sooner or later.
