NIMECHE: Gumus Emerges NIMECHE 4Th Chairman in Bayelsa …Promises growth, development for engineers

Engr Seigha Gumus has been inaugurated as the 4th chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineers, NIMECHE, Yenagoa Chapter, promised to work for the betterment of Engineers in the State.
In an investiture in his honour, on Monday,March 5, Engr Gumus was inaugurated alongside 2024 Executive Members at the NSE/COREN Secretariat, Yenagoa.
Delivering his inaugural speech, Engr Gumus identified lack of professional development and growth of engineers as barrier to the development of engineers in the state, hence, he promised to tackle it, immediately.
He also noted that mechanical engineering which is the bedrock of engineers has not been in its rightful place in recent times, assuring that as the chairman he will not relent until the body takes its rightful position.
The new Chairman added that collaborative efforts have been made to partner with relevant stakeholders to achieve their aims.
According to him, ” We are focusing on professional development and the growth of engineers in Bayelsa, so we intend to collaborate with stakeholders, academia, companies and state government, so we want to see how our students will do well and for mechanical engineers to come tops”
According to the newly inaugurated chairman, sixteen million naira has been budgeted to fund the programs for the year, while calling on support from members so as to achieve his lofty agenda.
Gumus, who said he is passionate in getting things done, also stated that encouraging secondary school students in choosing engineering as a career is part of the institution’s objective for the year as well as training programs such as safety maintenance program amongst others.
He said, ”We hope to liaise with industries and academia in the state and neighbouring states to ensure that our students are encouraged and rightly placed during their Industrial Training scheme.”
Earlier in his remarks, the outgoing chairman, Engr Jephthah Ayebakuro commended NIMECHE members for giving him the opportunity to have served ,he also appreciated them for their demonstration of love for the organization.
According to Ayebakuro, it will be remarkable that transfer of leadership was made possible which he said sometimes it’s a bane to society and world at large but for NIMECHE transmission process has always been seamless.
High point of the event was the Investiture of Engr Seigha Gumus, Lecture by Engr Prof Patrick Amialemhen on Production Engineering application: Value-Addition for Economic Growth, Inauguration of 2024-Exco Members, presentation of awards and Induction of new members.
