Environmental Cleanness: Osuoha Moves Motion To Restore Sanity In Imo Markets

The Lawmaker for Ohaji/Egbema state constituency, in the Imo state House of Assembly,Hon.Uzoma Francis Osuoha has called for the restoration of clean environment in Markets in the state.
The Lawmaker who made the call while moving a motion on the floor of the of the Assembly urged Governor Hope Uzodinma to mandate the Ministry of Environment and Imo State Almagmated Market Traders Association,ISAMMATA, to carry out clean up exercises every Thursday of the week.
Hon. Osuoha, who is popularly called Eze Buguma by his constituents observed that markets both in urban and rural areas in the state are visibly littered with arduous deposits which constitute hazardous environment inimical to human existence.
“This,may cause diseases and infections if adequate clean up exercises are not carried out regularly”he stated.
He also observed that most of the Markets in the State do not carry out any clean up exercises in their Market environment as it ought to be.
The Ohaji/Egbema Lawmaker, noted that the lackadaisical attitude of traders towards maintaining a hygienic environment is the causes of filthy and unfriendly environment witnessed in the Market vicinities which he insisted posed lots of health challenges.
“My personal investigations showed that you cannot breath freely or even try to eat due to huge dumps of refuse littered everywhere in our market environment”,he lamented.
The Lawmaker maintained that the motion is in line with the Governor’s health policy of seeing that markets in the State must remain clean and environmentally friendly.
The motion which gained much support from other members of the House was later adopted by the Assembly.
