ISCAF: Group Expresses Worry Over Rising Insecurity In South East

A group operating under the aegis of Ibo Senior Citizens Affair Foundation (ISCAF) says it is concerned over what it described as “ever-rising level of insecurity bedeviling Nigeria as a nation”.

A release from ISCAF signed by its President, Rt. Rev. Maglorious Enyioha lamented the loss of lives and property resulting from the activities of faceless gunmen, herdsmen and other armed groups shedding innocent blood at will.

The group recalled that few years ago, herdsmen reportedly invaded Uzouwani Community in Enugu State by night, “killing and maiming scores of Ndigbo.

“Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia Delta, Rivers State, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Anambra and infact all the states that make up the Eastern Region, have lost lives to senseless killings… by herdsmen and other classes of murderers simply described as unknown gunmen…

“The other time, it was Oyigbo in Rivers State, a fortnight ago, it was Orlu in Imo State and just last week, hell was let loose in Ebonyi State”, ISCAF observed.

Continuing, the body said: “time has come for Ndigbo to wake up from slumber and cry out to ‘Chiokike’, the only hope for our salvation. It is only a tree that stands still before a dangling matchete”.

The group, therefore, called on the Igbo to return their root, their maker who is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for intervention.

It also called on political office holders and leaders from the entire Eastern Region both at home and abroad to support, sponsor and participate in the what it called atonement for freedom programme.
