…Set houses ablaze, lives lost, property worth millions Destroyed
The sleeping Umuakam, Akpodim Community in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA of Imo State is being rocked by a fresh crisis which has led to the loss of life of six persons, including the destruction of few houses of some indigenes of the area.
The ugly incident happened on March, 15, 2019.
An eye witness who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the horrendous incident resulted to the setting ablaze of some houses in the community.adding that lives and property worth millions of Naira were lost.
He explained that the house of one Ihunanya Thompson Chidi, an illustrious son of the community was equally burnt down.
“This was as a result of a report against him and four others by one of their kinsmen identified as Clement who was said to have instigated some unknown gunmen in the district accusing; Kingsley Ogu, Ihunanya Thompson Chidi, Nwachukwu Obinna, Cajetan Opara and Anyanwu Sylvester as members of the proscribed organization; the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB.”
It was further gathered that upon this allegation, the infamous outfit reputed for extra-judicial killings and violence in the area descended on their houses and while in search of them went ahead to set their houses on fire thereby rendering their wives, children and aged parents homeless.
It was also gathered that this action of the unknown gunmen led to the loss of the third son of the said Thompson Chidi.
It was also gathered that three of the haunted men including Ihunanya who had prior to the attack were reported to have ran away from Nigeria after their houses, cars and property worth millions of Naira were also burnt down.
According to the source they were very lucky to have avoided their attackers and so escaped unhurt.
Another eye witness who also pleaded anonymity told our reporter that the armed men left a message that they will surely come back later to eliminate Mr. Ihunanya Thompson Chidi whenever and wherever they will sight him in Nigeria. It was also reported that the trio of Kingsley Ogu, Opara Cajethan and Anyanwu Sylvester also suffered similar fate as this wicked and dastardly attacks on them led to the loss of their children as well while Nwachukwu Obinna was unfortunate as he was later met by the unknown assailants who reportedly killed him during their subsequent attack.
Our reporter noted that the where abouts of the remaining four men is not known by their respective surving families and the entire Ezinihitte community.
