Abians are crying to the INEC, requesting them, to give them back their mandate, which they sold out again to PDP in the state.
They are now agitating to take to the streets if their mandate is not restored to them, an APC stalwart in the state Hon. Austin Eugene Uche has stated this.
This is even as he called on President Muhammadu Buhari to use his good offices to see to the restoration of the mandate of the APC in the state, as the electorate will take nothing short of that, even when APC members in the state are generally peaceful in their approach.
Hon. Uche who was interacting with newsmen in Umuahia the Abia State capital, said the perceived quietness that greeted the emergence of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of the PDP as the reelected governor of Abia State is a clear indication that the people’s mandate was stolen.
He said if not that there are strong grassroots spokespersons who are working assiduously to calm the masses down, there would have been massive revolt in the state.
His words, “ there is nothing to write home about as regards to Governorship election in Abia State, there are mixed feelings everywhere. The serenity of the whole environs indicates that Abians are mourning. They are complaining that what they voted for was not what they saw, that their mandate was stolen” by the INEC officials, and gave to the PDP.
In other state where elections were free and fair, he said, there was an outburst of joy by the electorate immediately the INEC pronounced the winners, but in Abia, it turns to mourning even the old were crying.
“At the grassroots, we are dousing the tensions, so that people will not revolt. If we allow these people to take to the streets demanding for their mandate, there will be a breakdown of law. It will be disastrous if we leave the agitating Abians and go back to our various business” he said.
He pointed out that the issue on ground is not all about Dr. Uche Ogah, the Governorship candidate of the APC, but the “stolen mandate of Abians”, who are tired of being owed as Civil servants and pensioners “.
Uche who aspired for the Isuikwuato State constituency seat in the last APC party primaries, insisted that what Abians are calling for is “the restoration of their mutilated mandate, that is why they are agitating
to protest, because there are provable evidences that the APC won the guber elections but were robbed by the PDP with help of some the INEC staff’s.
