Imo APC Ward Congress not cancelled-Nzekwe …Rochas: Opposing tenure elongation, my ordeal

For not backing the tenure elongation of the National Working Committee, NWC of the All Progressive Congress, APC led by the National Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun is the price Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha says he has to pay over his stand on the matter.

The Governor had lost out to his political opponents in Imo APC called the “Allied Forces” during last Saturday’s ward congresses.

Part of the statement reads “The stealing of the Sensitive materials meant for the Ward Congresses of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State on Saturday, May 5, 2018 and thereby denying the teeming members of the Party in the State participation, could only be adjudged the Price Governor Rochas Okorocha has to pay over his Stand on the much orchestrated elongation of tenure for the National Working Committee members of the Party led by Chief John Oyegun, which failed.

“The position of the governor on the tenure elongation was in the overall interest of the Party and the members, and that was the most popular position all those who love the Party had taken, but it appears some people are yet to purge themselves of the unnecessary anger that could have arisen from the botched tenure elongation stuff” Onwuemedo wrote.

He said he never “targeted anyone after the exercise but was keen in the progress and future of the Party which could not have been sacrificed because of the personal interests of some people

“The good thing about the whole story is that it has shown that those making all the noise in Imo APC using Abuja as their base, are afraid of going to the field for a healthy Competition, thereby proving us right in our repeated claim that these people are media Creations. They do not go home and have never helped anybody. They are afraid of one man, one vote policy.

“Interestingly, members of Imo APC are determined to pursue the case of the stolen sensitive materials to a logical conclusion so that Nigerians would further know the debilitating characters of some of these so-called Political leaders.

“Otherwise, there could not have been any other reason the sensitive materials meant for the Ward Congresses in the State developed wings and fled, and the argument was between the National Organizing Secretary of the Party who is from the State, Chief Osita Izunaso and the man originally sent as the Chairman of the Congress Committee, Mr. Ini Okori, of who among themselves was in position of the sensitive materials” he said.

He said members of Imo APC are determined to pursue the case of stolen materials to a logical conclusion, stating that the APC is no more a Muslim party because Okorocha made it attractive.

Meanwhile, against the backdrop of rumour making the the rounds that the result of last Saturday May 5 2018 ward congress of the All Progressive Congress APC held in Imo State has been cancelled, Hon Ugochukwu Nzekwe, State Deputy Chairman of the party says the congress has not been cancelled.

The ex Imo Assembly lawmaker for Nkwerre State Constituency who spoke exclusively to Nigeria Newspoint made it clear that the National Working Committee NWC of the party which is the only body empowered by the constitution has never made such a pronouncement.

The APC chieftain wondered why some people who should know that the APC as a party has a constitution which in turn spelt out rules and regulations that guide processes in the party would go about feeding unsuspecting members of the public with falsehood.

He disclosed that the party constitution stipulated that after a congress, an appeal panel would constituted for every state to receive and look into grievances and complaints emanating from the congress pointing that that of Imo has just finished its work and gone back to Abuja.

According to him it is only when the panel finishes it assignment and hands same over to the NWC that the issue of cancellation or otherwise would come up.

Hon Nzekwe called on people to disregard the rumour which he blamed on those who lost during the congress noting it was same people that had claimed that congress did not hold in the state earlier.

The party leader stressed that the appearance and submission of petitions by those who lost in the congress put the lie to claims that no  elections held in the state adding he is optimistic the panel report would also confirm congress held in the state.

Besides, he wondered who would cancel the congress when party officials like the 27 LGA chairmen, and State Chairman Chief Hillary Ekeh have all attested to the fact that congress held successfully in the state last weekend
