Following massive outcry against the exorbitant cost of painting cabs and taxi plying Owerri allegedly put at N106 thousand naira, government it seems has decided rescind the policy.
However, findings revealed that the government rescinded the policy on one condition and that condition is that drivers who have not painted their cabs would now carry Ugwumba Uche Nwosu campaign flex banner in addition to cash payment of N15 thousand.
According some drivers who spoke to our roving reporter on condition of anonymity this  agreement was initially reached between the disabled cab owners and officials of government and later extended to other owners.
The cab drivers further stated that they preferred the arrangement as it is  better than the former policy of painting/ fleeting cabs at a whooping sum of N106 thousand.
Our reporter who went round owerri the state capital reports that already many taxi’s and buses have embraced the policy as they were seen carrying the flex banner at the back windscreens.
But, a government official who also pleaded anonymity on the ground that he was not authorised to speak on the matter denied the allegation saying those who are doing decided on their own to support Ugwumba Nwosu.
When contacted the state commissioner for transport Chief Lasberry Okafor Anyanwu denied the allegation describing it as a lie from the pit of hell.
