Ideato South APGA Gets New Leadership Amidst Renewed Push For Unity, Electoral Readiness

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State has ushered in a new chapter with the inauguration of a caretaker committee.
This followed the suspension of its former chairman, Hon. Patrick Anayo Azuma.
Leading the new team is Hon. Casmir Ngama as chairman, with Mr Dimson Tochukwu serving as Secretary. Other members of the inaugurated caretaker committee include Mr. Chikwado Obiagwu (popularly known as Kwado Mpa), Mrs Chisom Irechukwu, Mr Chima Godwin, Mr Obiakor Chukwuebuka, among others.
The inauguration ceremony which held on September 2, 2025, at the APGA state party secretariat, was attended by the Imo State Chairman of APGA, Hon. Chief John Iwuala, State legal Team, state publicity secretary, state youth leader, state women Leader, among others.
Chief Iwuala charged the new committee to discharge their duties diligently, emphasizing the need to elevate Ideato South APGA to greater heights both in Imo State and beyond.
“The task ahead is clear: work tirelessly to bring our party in Ideato South to the limelight,” Iwuala reportedly told the new leaders, urging them to prioritize growth, inclusivity, and effective mobilization.
In a move rooted in the party’s core philosophy of “nwanneness,”  which is the Igbo spirit of brotherhood,  the new chairman, Hon. Ngama, announced the formation of a dedicated reconciliation committee.
This body according to him, is tasked with uniting both old and new members of the party, fostering a formidable team built on sportsmanship and mutual respect across all wards in the local government area.
The momentum continued on Monday, December 8, 2025, when APGA made history in Ideato South by becoming the first political party to raise its flag at a newly established party secretariat located in Umueshi, along Dikenafai Road. The event symbolized the party’s commitment to grassroots presence and organizational strength.
Party faithful at the event described the flag-raising as a landmark achievement, signaling that APGA in Ideato South was fully geared up and prepared for the 2027 general elections.
Sources within the party expressed optimism that the new leadership will heal any lingering divisions and position APGA as a strong contender in the local government area, known for its strategic importance in Imo political landscape.
As APGA continues its efforts to reclaim influence in Imo State under the leadership of Hon. Chief John Iwuala as state chairman, developments in Ideato South are being closely watched as a potential model for unity and revival in other local government chapters of the party
APGA, which prides itself on ideologies of progressivism and communal solidarity, appears poised to intensify its activities ahead of future polls.
