PFN Ends 3-Day Prayers For Nigeria, Knocks Govt On Bad Governance

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria ,PFN, last Sunday ended its nationwide 3-day fasting and prayer sessions during which it sought God’s intervention over the problems challenging the nation.
The Imo State chapter of the group rounded off their own program at the Faithworld Cathedral, Egbu, Owerri with its state chairman, Bishop C.D. Jacobs presiding.
The highlight of the event was the reading of the presidential speech made by her national leader, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, by the state chairman. During the address, the state officials in protest had carried placards displaying issues like : “Say no to Islamisation, Save Nigeria from terrorism, End blood shed in Nigeria, We deserve peace etc”.
In the address, Oke bemoaned the issues bedevilling the nation maintaining that Nigeria has been challenged enough.
In his words, “The level of banditry, kidnapping, violence, insecurity, and savage killings, all across the Nigerian landscape, has risen to an intolerable height such that every Nigerian should cry out against it to God for divine intervention and to our government for immediate actions”
He did not spare the numerous killings that have occured in parts of Taraba, Plateau, Benue which he described as killing fields as well as parts of Kogi, Edo, Ondo and more recently Oyo States lamenting that governments has demonstrated incapacity to quel the crises.
According to him, “Most especially we mourn the apparent lack of a firm political will by our government to crush these horrible evils in Nigeria, allowing it to spread unchecked with empty promises that have done no good.”
Consequently, he tasked the government to perform their constitutional role and moral duty of protecting the people.
The president again called the Christian community all over Nigeria to “stand together in unity and rise against the evil ravaging Nigeria” and cry out loud for God’s intervention.
Earlier in the program, Bishop C. D. Jacobs in his message made declarations among which includes that there shall be no bad leaders in Imo State, insisting that Nigeria must not be islamized.
He also prayed for a non-violent election in 2027, against factors that hamper economic activities, restoration of peace in the  land and unity of the churches.
The praying and fasting sessions with theme as “Consuming Fire” attracted the cream of Pentecostal leadership in the state among which includes elders like Bishop Illechukwu (PFN) deputy national president, Bishop Stanford Nwaogu, Bishop Edohasim, Tunji Abraham of the Living Faith Church, Rev Osonduagwuike, state officials of PFN among others.
