ISU NATION AND IMO CHARTER OF EQUITY

By Okey Dike

Charter of Equity is the Slogan but it’s deeper meaning is Fairness and Justice.
The glaring benefit of the Imo Charter of Equity is clearly seen in the equitable distribution of Administrative Positions in Governance to the Zones, Lgas and Clans tied to Meritocracy.
The Imo Charter of Equity was introduced to provide a fair and just framework to guarantee fairness and eliminate political dominance within the State.
We applaud the vision of the Governor of Imo State, H. E , Sen Hope Odidika Uzodimma, Onwa, and the Imo State Elders Council for their Efforts to institutionalise and apply the Charter of Equity in the forthcoming Elections in Imo State.
Isu Nation is a Clan comprising Isu Lga, Nkwerre, Njaba, Nwangele and part of Orlu Lga.
We, of Isu Clan have been marginalised over a long time in the allocation of government positions in the State apparatchik.
We therefore demand in this current engagement one of these two positions viz State Deputy Governor or the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly.
This gesture of Charter of Equity should also trickle down to the Lgas and Wards.
Isu Clan has the highest number of Lgas, and population comparatively.
Equity is a means to embrace give and take, and peace. It is on record that since the fourth Republic in 1999, in Imo West (Orlu) Senatorial zone has never produced a Governor, Senator, Minister, Secretary to State Government, and other high level critical position. We don’t lack the manpower as we have them in abundance in the Academia, Business world, and other Professions. Our Counterpart Clans in Orlu Zone have severally occupied the earlier mentioned key Political Positions to the utter exclusion of the entire Isu Nation.
