NANS calls for urgent probe into tragic death of Alvan Student, Chinememma Juliet Ejimofor

 

Nigerian students under the aegis of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Southeast Zone F, has expressed deep sorrow and concern over the  death of one of its own, Miss Chinememma Juliet Ejimofor, a student of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, AIFUE, Owerri, who was reported to have died in her hostel.

Addressing newsmen recently, Comrade Alfred Jacinta Chinedu, the  Secretary of NANS Southeast Zone F, expressed  sadness over the sudden death of their colleague, pointing out that her death has raised serious questions, stirred public anxiety, and intensified calls for clarity and justice.

Comrade  Chinedu posited that the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident remain unclear, and conflicting accounts have created fear, outrage and a profound sense of mistrust within the student body and the wider community.

According to her, “It has therefore become necessary that the truth be fully revealed and accountability established through a credible process.

“In light of this, we respectfully demand:

a comprehensive, independent investigation into the cause and circumstances of her death.

“Identification and questioning of all persons who may have allegedly been directly or indirectly connected to the incident

“Public disclosure of verified investigative findings to ensure transparency and restore confidence.

protection for witnesses, whistle-blowers, and students who possess vital information.

“A thorough investigation of the residence where the deceased was reportedly found.

This inquiry is essential not only to uncover the truth, but also to reinforce trust in the systems designed to protect students.

“The uncertainty and suspicion surrounding this case have shaken the community, and only a sincere pursuit of justice can bring healing and reassurance.

“We therefore urge the DSS, Police and the state government and other appropriate authorities to initiate a formal investigation with urgency, sensitivity, and professionalism, and to keep the public informed as findings emerge.

The Board of Trustee chairman, Hon. Chukwuemeka Chikere and family members of the deceased student were present during the press briefing to demand  justice for Miss  Ejimofor.
