Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara From Okwe Obi, Abuja Fubara, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) member, was suspended by President Tinubu in March 2025 due to a political crisis linked to a pipeline explosion in Rivers State.
In a statement on Saturday, ASAF Director-General Ambassador Fubara Dagogo highlighted Fubara’s strong support base in Rivers State. He said joining the APC and endorsing Tinubu’s re-election would strengthen Fubara’s position and hasten his reinstatement.
Dagogo added that Fubara’s defection, alongside recent political gains in Delta State, would help secure Tinubu’s victory across the South-South region. “It would complement the efforts of all stakeholders driving the Renewed Hope agenda in the region,” he said.
He described the recent defection of Delta State’s governor and his predecessor as a “turning point in APC’s control of the South-South.”
Dagogo welcomed Delta State House of Assembly members into the ASAF and encouraged them to align with its programmes.
He also called for lasting peace and reconciliation between Fubara and his political mentor, Nyesom Wike, noting that unity is vital for the APC’s success in Rivers State in 2027 and for a stable state government.
