There are emerging indications that the palpable security situation in the embattled Izombe Town may have led to a situation where community people especially, women are now struggling to bury dead bodies littered in the nooks and crannies of the town.
A source in the area which craved anonymity, hinted Nigeria Newspoint that the raging insecurity in the town has forced many male indigenes especially, young men to flee to other places for fear of their lives.
The situation it was gathered became more serious following reported alleged combing of homes by suspected men in uniform; a development that is said to have led to the exodus of male youths of the town.
The development it further gathered, has led to an unusual situation where women are now said to be the ones burying their sons some of whose reported littered corpses were said to have already begun decomposing.
It was also learnt that the women barely manage to gather together the reported decomposing corpses of the relations, most times wrap them up in what is believed to be pieces of clothes and bury them.
The seeming ugly situation in Izombe Town of Oguta LGA has led to renewed calls on the Inspector General of Police, IGP, and the member representing Ohaji-Egbema-Oguta-Oru West federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Eugene Dibiagwu, as well as the member for Oguta state constituency in the Imo House of Assembly, Hon Osuji, to break their silence and speak out over the killings in Izombe Town.
Many Izombe indigenes and residents are said to be in shock over the alleged inaction vis-a-vis the reported mayhem going on in Izombe despite the fact that the incumbent House of Representatives member for Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West federal constituency, Hon Dibiagwu comes from Izombe Town.
It will be recalled that Izombe, Agwa and some neighbouring communities in Oguta LGA of Imo State, have been in the news in recent months following reported serious clashes between security agents and unknown gunmen in the area.
The town of Izombe is reported to be gradually degenerating into a theatre of war and ghost town, as security operatives reportedly besieged the area in a bid to clamp down on gunmen.
Many people from the oil-rich communities of Izombe, Agwa, Awa, among others including traditional rulers, young men, women and children, are believed to have fled the crisis-riden Oguta communities in order not to losing their lives.
