2023 Governorship: Over 4 m unemployed Imolites, recipe for disaster, insecurity, Says Ejiogu “APGA will create jobs, improve education “

Prevailing high unemployment rate among youths has been described as a recipe for disaster and insecurity.

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for the scheduled November 11, gubernatorial election in Imo, Hon Tony Ejiogu stated this in an interview with newsmen recently.

Hon Ejiogu hinted that barely six hundred thousand people representing about 10.percent out of about six million Imolites, could be said to be gainfully employed. While about 90 percent representing nearly five million of the population were either unemployed or under-employed.

The Imo APGA standard bearer further hinted that the situation remained a recipe for impending disaster and insecurity.

Ejiogu, a former Senior Special Assistant to ex-Governor Ikedi Ohakim, said his template will transform Imo into a vibrant private sector-driven economy anchored on technology and innovation.

This is even as he reaffirmed his preparedness to create a conducive environment that would lure private investments with potentials to create thousands of jobs to Imo state, and by so-doing, check youth restiveness and insecurity, as well as shore up the state’s economy.

Speaking further, Ejiogu assured that his administration if elected, would overhaul education both in terms of infrastructure and re-training and re-tooling of teaching staff, adding that there would be a serious and sustained shift in emphasis to science and technology education.

He also assured that public primary, secondary and tertiary institutions would be equipped as part of what he described as his action plan to turn Imo into a technology hub.
