I’m the best: Imo education lacks quality, relevance – APGA guber aspirant

A governorship aspirant for the 2019 elections in Imo on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mazi Chidi Okoro says the nature of education offered in Imo State remains lacking both in terms of quality and relevance.

Mazi Okoro stated this recently while unveiling his programmes for Imo if elected Imo governor in 2019. He described the type of education offered in Imo as outdated and expensive inspite of the claims of free education by the present administration in the state noting that such kind of education does not meet the demands of today’s 21st century economy even as he insisted that it lacks quality.

Okoro flayed successive Imo governors who he said de-emphasized the import and value of transparency in governance, saying that he was not in any way desperate to be governor.

The Onuimo-born pharmacist with wide experience in the corporate world harped on the need to reform the educational sector of Imo State through what he termed ‘targeted free education’. He said that no government can afford to finance free education while also expressing support to the idea of returning schools to the missionaries.

On Imo economy, Mazi Okoro described as very poor, N550 million per month Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Imo Sate, assuring that he would see to the setting up of more breweries, cashew factories, industrial belts and clusters if elected in 2019.

The APGA governorship hopeful revealed that he would float a N20 billion venture capital fund to kick-start the ‘Sick’ Imo economy. He also debunked the rumour that he was aiming to become a deputy governorship candidate to another aspirant although he said he could consider such as an option so far as it blended with what he has in mind to make Imo rise.
