The governors latest stance sources close to the party informed Nigeria Newspoint came after it dawned on him that other leaders of the party opposed to him have floored in the congress.

The opposition leaders namely Senators Ifeanyi Araraume, Osita Izunaso, Benjamin Uwajumogu, Prince Eze Madumere and others it was gathered had cut the governor to size in the scheming, intrigues, and manipulations that characterised last weekend’s exercise thereby carrying the day.

Initially, the governor had on learning about his imminent crash allegedly employed employed the services of Ohaji Egbema boys to try to scuttle the exercise.

The recruited thugs had reportedly marched to state police command headquarters to protest against the exercise and call for its cancellation.

Unfortunately, their protest yielded no positive result as the police authorities were said to have told them that they had nothing to do with the exercise prompting them to head to the party office at Imo State University Junction.

There they met an empty office as the party leaders who were there earlier had gone to various wards for the exercise.

It was gathered that the visibly enraged youths realizing that the game was over started destroying doors and windows of the state secretariat.

Our correspondent later reported that the youths were later seen around Rockview Hotel near Imo Government House fighting over what is believed to be the spoils of their struggle of that day.

On his part, Gov Okorocha apparently realizing the game was up quickly scampered into his vehicle and rushed down to Senator Izunaso’s house at the Civic Centre opposite Commissioners quarters to seek for soft landing.

There he came face to face with the other leaders and congress officials from Abuja putting finishing touches to the congress results from the various LGs of the state.

As at the time of filing this report the governor was still there trying to see how the ward structures can be harmonised so that his camp would not be humiliated at the end of the exercise.

Meanwhile, reports from Abia State indicated that the state’s congress could not take place on saturday due to the crisis rocking APC in the state.
