As Christmas Looms, Security Agencies Should Up The Ante

The yearly Christmas celebration is almost around the corner. The celebration coincides with events marking the end of every year as well as New Year celebrations

In the eastern part of Nigeria, this period is associated with increase in activities including the return of people from all over the world.

There is also the concomitant increase in crime wave during the Yuletide.

Increase in vehicular traffic also precipitates a corresponding increase in road accidents.

These factors underscore the imperative that security agencies must be on alert and work round-the-clock to ensure safety of citizens including travellers.

The police and other security agencies including traffic officers need to increase collaboration in order to tackke crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, ritual killing, ‘one chance, accidents, among others.

To this end, Nigeria Newspoint urges increased patrol and surveillance as some of the measures expected to be taken by the police and other security agencies during this period.

Citizens themselves must help security agencies by providing useful information about suspected criminal activities in their area.

Security operatives must rededicate themselves to duty and shun corruption. By so doing, a hitch-free 2025 Christmas season will be achieved.
