IMOPOLY NON-ACADEMIC STAFF UNION, APPLAUDS UZODINMA’S MILESTONES IN THE INSTITUTION, DRAWS ATTENTION TO MORE PROMOTIVE INTERVENTION.

Recently, the Non-Academic staff Union of the ImoState Polytechnic, Omuma, lauded Governor Hope Uzodimma for Merging the three campuses of the institution; a move the Union noted would enhance Administrative Cohesion, and facilitate the development of the institution. The Union, led by Comrade M.l. Opara, hailed the Governor’s commitment and proactiveness in ensuring that the challenges facing the Polytechnic, in Course Accreditation were put to rest. The Union emphasized that such milestone has put the institution on sound pedestal to be able to continue to deliver on its mandate as a front-liner in Polytechnic education in the Country.

Prompt payment of Salaries of staff by Uzodinma remains another area the union doffed its cap for the Governor, but called the attention of the Governor on the discrepancies the Polytechnic staff currently experience in the payment of Salaries. The Union noted the need for an aggressive review of the Salary payment, to reflect proper placement of staff in the government Pay- roll system. The Union, while acknowledging the Governor’s sincere commitment towards repositioning the institution, noted the need for more reformative and promotive intervention by the Governor in the polytechnic.

The union chairman, while expressing confidence in Governor’s efforts, called for the Constitution of a Governing Council in the Polytechnic, to help foster a good administrative Cohesion and development in the Polytechnic.
Speaking through its leader, the union noted the appreciation of her members over the efforts of the Governor in ensuring
promotion of staff of the institution, and expressed delight that the Governor’s gesture towards the institution would elevate the polytechnic to same level with its counterparts across the nation.

The leadership of IMOPOLY NASU, in the same vein, called the attention of the Governor over the promotions dated from 2014 up to date, which the staff of the polytechnic have never received any financial benefit. The union expressed confidence in the workers’ friendly Governor of looking into the financial stagnation of staff since 2014, with the hope of nipping it in the bud.
The Union, while drawing the attention of the digital Governor on the need for Substantive Appointments to be made in the Institution according
to Seniority, stated that the appointment of Polytechnic Management Heads, as substantive would prove more reformative in repositioning the Polytechnic, in line with the 3R-Agenda.

Similarly, the union observed and frowned at a situation where some junior staff are placed as Administrative Heads over their seniors in the institution; these, amongst others, as could be clearly noted, has been brewed disaffections amongst staff in the institution.

Non-Academic Staff Union consequently demanded a change of the situation, which the union described as “an urgly sequence”

Speaking further, the Leadership of NASU in the Polytechnic, equally urged that TETFUND grant be given to all staff who merit it, as such would enable staff to acquire more Capacity, and transfer same to the students.
The Union lauded the Governor over what they described as “eradication of insecurity” in the state, a situation which affected students’ enrollment initially, and expressed delight that the situation has become better and peaceful; all thanks to the untiring efforts of the workers’ friendly cum digital Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma (CON).
The union called for the extension of”Service Network provider to the institution for effective communication, research, compilation, teaching and learning in the institution.
The Union leadership, also noted that the non-enrollment of the Polytechnic retirees into the Pension Scheme of Imo State, has brought enormous hardship to those who retired from the institution since the year 2017, while according to the Union, “Some retirees are either very Sick or have died as a result of this ugly situation”.

However, the Union while reiterating her support to the 3R administration of the Governor, appealed to the Governor on the need for high-rising structures in the institution to accommodate staff offices and properties of the institution within the little available space.

The union therefore, expressed the burning desires of the combined unions in the polytechnic to have audience with Governor Uzodimma (CON) . It disclosed that a parley with Governor would enable them open their hearts to him (as the father of the institution), especially on the need for greater achievements and consolidation on his good wishes for the struggling institution.
